01 — About Apex
Apex Inspection Authority is a South African independent third-party inspection, QA/QC management and ISO 9001 consulting company. We verify welding, coating, structural and piping work against the governing codes — and we put it in writing.
We hold no stake in the contractor, the supplier or the schedule. Our findings answer to one thing only: the standard. Every inspection is performed by credentialed personnel, recorded against an approved Inspection and Test Plan, and closed out with traceable documentation.
“If it isn’t recorded, it didn’t happen.”
That rule governs every site visit, every weld witnessed, every coating measured. The result: a project record your auditors, your client and your insurers can rely on.
Clients don’t pay us for opinions. They pay us for verified evidence their project can stand on — documented, indexed, defensible.
02 — Services
Six service lines. One discipline: verification against the governing code, recorded and traceable.
Visual and dimensional weld inspection to ASME IX, AWS D1.1 and API 1104 — from WPS/PQR review and in-process witnessing to final acceptance.
AMPP CIP-led verification of surface preparation, climatic conditions, DFT and holiday testing — protecting design life from blast profile to final cure.
Fabrication and erection verification of structural steelwork — fit-up, alignment, bolt torque and weld quality to SANS 2001-CS1 and project drawings.
Shop and in-trench inspection of piping and pipelines — fit-up, weld acceptance, coating integrity and hydrotest witnessing to ASME B31.3 / API 1104.
Design, implementation and internal audit of ISO 9001:2015 quality systems for technical contractors — taking you to certification-ready, audit after audit.
Independent works audits, surveillance and expediting at fabricators and suppliers — verifying capability, progress and quality before equipment reaches site.
03 — Sectors
Deployed where quality failure is not an option — and where the audit trail must hold.
Plant, structures, chutes and piping — fabrication and site quality surveillance.
Pressure piping, tankage and terminals — code-driven inspection to ASME and API.
Bulk pipelines, reservoirs and pump stations — SANS 1200-series construction QA.
Workshop fabrication, vendor works and assemblies — verified before despatch.
04 — Methodology
Five steps. Each one closes with a named, auditable output.
We define what must be verified, against which codes, at what hold and witness points — before anyone mobilises.
